Janelle Monáe is amazing at everything she does, whether that’s music or acting, or any other facet of art. That’s just one reason why she’s the perfect choice for Marvel’s next Storm.

The talented multi-hyphenate recently shared that she’s very much up for the job, which should be exciting news to X-Men (and Monáe) fans.

“I definitely have thrown it out there,” she told Empire of the potential role, in a recent interview. “One of my dreams has always been to play Storm.”

Monáe hinted that the Marvel character could make an appearance in the next Black Panther, saying, “I don’t know if she comes in Black Panther, but it would be a dream to have her in it. I don’t know where they are with that.”

In the Black Panther comic book series, Storm and T’Challa married, but their marriage was later annulled.
If she does eventually suit up as Storm — which really, really needs to happen — she would be joining Halle Berry and Alexandra Shipp in playing the beloved character.

Berry played Storm in X-Men, X2, X-Men: The Last Stand, and X-Men: Days of Future Past.

“A lot of women have played Storm and they’ve done an exceptional job, and I would love to be in that line of artists and get to do Storm justice,” Monáe said.
She would definitely do Storm justice.
